Some New Shows, Mike News and Fozzy News

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Hey guys,
Just a quick note until I can sit and write a full blog.

Hopefully you are following me on Twitter by now!
www.twitter.com/2of5
This is a great way to keep up with my day to day stuff.I have updated all of my upcoming shows on my MySpace page and will get my site updated here very soon:
www.myspace.com/mikemartinband
Take note of the upcoming webcasts and online / radio interviews!

I have also created a FaceBook page too where you can hear all of “2 of 5″ and stay updated on news and shows if you’re in that Universe:

Fozzy’s new album “Chasing The Grail” is almost finished. We’ve been in the studio for the last several months working on our follow up to “All That Remains” and this one will not dissapoint! I am contributing a 13 minute progressive metal opus to the cd entitled “Wormwood”. Mr. Jericho penned all of the lyrics and I went into a fever dream to compose an epic work about the end of the world. I’m very pleased with it. Some of my best writing and guitar work to date. Also a a display of my classical composing style, string arranging skill and vision as a producer. It will be a stand out track on what is already anticipated to be Fozzy’s best record yet! We are all very excited to say the least!

For all news about Fozzy and “Chasing The Grail” please got to:

More gear news coming very soon as well. But very briefly, I am pleased to announce that I am now endorsing Peavey Guitars! I have been working in a few of the Rotor models around Atlanta and one has been used entirely to record “Wormwood”. I’ll be going through the details of this axe in a podcast soon. This is a great pairing for me as I have been an avid Peavey amp user for many years!

Lot’s more news coming soon. Stay Tuned!

All About Ohms! (WARNING! guitar player content!!)

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Hey Guys,I’ve been a bit lazy when it comes to learning everyting that there is to know about amplifiers, voltage, resistance, etc. I’ve lived, worked (and played!) by the “Keep It Simple Stupid!” rule. So I only use matched Ohms on cabinets if I pair 2 of them with a single head that allows for switching the Ohm rating coming out of the amp. I have only been in a few situations where the need for pairing mismatched Ohms has raised the question of how not to blow up my amp! One of those days is today. So I decided to use the internet (a very popular source of information!) and learn the rule (at least as far as it concern guitar amps and cabs) once and for all. I discovered the following website and I have to say that I’m impressed with their ability to get a dummy like me to understand it! So I wanted to pass this along for anyone here who might have run up on this question themselves.http://www.legendarytones.com/ohms.html Now go play some guitar!

Follow me on Twitter

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

This seems to be all of the rage right now so I’m trying it out! Between a MySpace page, Facebook Profile and a regular website, keeping things up to date gets a bit cumbersome for a guy like me who’d much rather go hide and play guitar than learn how to use all of this stuff! LOLAnyway, much news is coming but in the meantime: Follow Me On Twitter!

“Song of the Living Dead”

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

This show will be here in Atlanta through the month of June. My good friend Eric Frampton wrote the music for this one and asked me to play the “Zombie Guitars” on it. I was only happy to oblige! Of course I’m on tour wioth Stuck Mojo all month so my guitars are on tape. But go see the show! If is hysterical! Especially if you are a fan of the Zombie Movie genre.

Mojo Tour update #1

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Hey there. As I write this we are in Berlin Germany for the seventh show of the tour. It has taken me a few days to learn how to use my new iPhone internationally without getting charged to hell! Wi-Fi is my new friend!

So far the shows have been going very well. Good crowds in cool venues. I’ll be updating my MySpace page with tour photos when I get back to the states. All of the boys are in good health. We’re just chilling’ in the dressing room waiting for our sound check and its time for some guitar maintnance.

That’s all for now but I’ll post more in the next couple of days.
Peace!

Mojo SBK Release banner

Legendary Atlanta, Georgia-based rap/metal band STUCK MOJO has inked a deal with Napalm Records. The label will re-release the group’s latest album, “Southern Born Killers”, with three bonus tracks on February 29 in Europe and March 4 in North America.

Commented STUCK MOJO guitarist Rich Ward: “We feel good about Napalm; they understand that their groups need to take their music to their fans by touring and they have given us the support we need to make records and tour — without taking a piece of everything, which seems to be a common practice with most labels these days.”

STUCK MOJO will embark on a European tour with EKTOMORF beginning late February. The dates are as follows:
